Something has been bugging me lately. The more involved im trying to become the more i realize that MUSLIMS in the west particularly the ones in America are having an identity crisis. They dont know if they are Muslims or Americans first. The answer to me is simple we are MUSLIMS alhamdulilah. Unfortuantely Organizations like CAIR which is the council for AMERICAN-Islamic relation puts Islam second. Granted they might do good things for the muslims in the west. the question i have is Why put islam second even if its only the name? Its not only the organizations but the people as well. I go to a small private college which is predominately white. I get weird looks because of my beard and kufi but its all good becuase the kuffar will never be pleased unless i change my religion to theirs but back to the point. We have a couple of muslims on campus soo i was talking to a brother and i asked him his viewpoint on this topic and i got the impression that he believes that hes an american Muslim not a Muslim in america. (trust me its different) I try not to let these things bother me but they do i came across this article by Sayyid Qutb may allah accept his Martyrdom. This article does a very good job in explaining why MUSLIMS should reject the idea of Nationality hence not feel a proudness of being an American rather a feeling of proudness when they call themselves MUSLIMS.
